Flower pressing is one of the many efficient ways of preserving flowers. It retains the natural color and texture of the flowers. Moreover, many people have this habit of pressing flowers. Infact they love it. It is one of the most pleasant and amazing hobbies. There are many methods via which you can press flowers. The simplest way to press is to place flowers in between the pages of the book and then keep it for few weeks. We must make sure that we leave 1/8” of pages amid pressings.
We can also employ a flower press to press the flowers. Another method of pressing is Microwave pressing. We must be cautious while pressing through this technique. We must ensure we do not over do it. There are other more advanced methods used. A little bit of glycerin is what we add before drying the flowers. Many people employ drying flowers in a press as they feel it very easy.
While pressing flowers in a book, it is better if we use sheets of smooth white typing paper. This will squeeze in the blossoms very nicely during pressing process. This type of paper weans out the moisture content of the petals of the flowers. Moreover it also gives solution for the trouble of flowers gluing to the paper. It is recommended that if you cannot afford a flower press always go for a heavy book.
Generally flower presses are expensive and therefore many people also make one of their own which comes out to be very much cheaper in respect to the former ones. One more thing, which we should keep in our mind, is that we should not peep in or disturb the flowers during pressing. This will gradually bring a negative effect. Leave them for ample time so that they can get press very well.
Some people also employ these pressed flowers for framing with using many watercolors.etc. They stick the original pressed flowers into the frame with glue. While sticking them with glue we must not press them more than enough, otherwise they may literally deform. We must also make sure that while pressing the flowers should not overlap in any manner.
